Oct. 28, 06 Demonstration

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

Here are some pics (courtesy of Jesse Draper) of last Saturdays head painting demo, held at my studio in Salt Lake City. Thanks to everyone who came. I hope it was of value to you. I think it went really well. I only shook a little and I don’t think I offended anyone too badly.

‘The robot stage’- I was tempted to call it done here, but I kept going for my students’ sakes.

Here is a shot of me getting Jiggy-with-it.

They are always so interested when I’m getting Jiggy-with-it.

After about 6 hours it was done. Cut me some slack, there were a lot of questions (Joann).

Coloring Contest Entries

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

Now that I am spending any available free time considering designs for a completely unattainable 5 piece setting of porcelain tableware, I have had to outsource my custom van theme research and development.

Clearly the sweetest plum of owning a small business is the coloring contest - that’s the money melon! Mr. Coop kindly scanned about 20 pages from a circa 1972 Ed Roth coloring book and the kids took it from there.

DIY Segway built by students!

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

“A group of students from Wayland High School, John D. O’Bryant School of Math and Science, and Cambridge Rindge and Latin School working with four MIT students,” says their website, has created yet another one-off DIY Segway-like scooter. Just like the Segway, their device can balance itself as the rider uses his or her body-weight to gesture the device in the direction that they want to go. They set out to develop the machine for less than $1,000, and used lightweight, inexpensive aluminum and lexan plastic for the majority of the machine. Like many of the other DIY Segways, the machine uses an accelerometer to measure the lean of your body and the machine, which allows it to balance itself. No Wiimotes of iPhones were harmed during construction of this scooter.

The student’s scooter weighs just 52 pounds with the battery and beats the Segway in one important way: it comes with two cupholders while the Segway offers none. Only in America, folks!

Quite possibly the coolest side of all of this is that the designers have made the code that they used to program their machine to stay upright available for download, and have given a guide on how to make a DIY Segway for your very own. How long until one of these ends up in the AutoblogGreen garage?

How To Draw A Car On Wacom Pad

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

This is demonstration video of how to draw a nice looking futuristic car on Wacom Pad

This video is part of Wacom pad challenge. I honestly don’t know what type of software was used for this type of rendering but it’s definitely worth a look.

Very talented visual artist. It looks like free hand drawing. For thos who like to draw concept cars or comic arts, this is good reference video.

Another one on black background.
