Southern California School Closed Updates Wednesday, October, 24, 2007 including LA County, Orange County, San Diego County, Riverside County, Ventura County and San Bernardino County

Malibu Area:

Most schools in the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District will reopen, including Topanga Canyon Elementary School.

Pepperdine University’s Malibu campus will also be open.

Santa Clarita Area:

All schools in the Castaic Union, Newhall, Saugus Union, Sulphur Springs Union and William S. Hart Union High school districts will be OPEN.

Orange County:

Silverado Elementary School Closed.

Canyon View Elementary School Closed

San Diego County:

All San Diego County public schools and UC San Diego CLOSED.

Ventura County:

Fillmore School District schools Closed.

Moorpark Unified School District Closed.

Moorpark Pinecrest School and Moorpark College Closed.

San Bernardino County

Rim of the World Unified School District schools Closed.

Irvine, California Fire Updates including current fire area

Current Fire Location:

Silverado Canyon and Santiago Canyon roads and crossed Hwy 241 to the west and burning to the edge toward the Portola Springs and Northwood village of Irvine.

Irvine Fire already consumed more than 15,000 acres with 30% containment. One building destroyed and two buildings damaged. Threatening 2,000 buildings.

More than 500 firefiters on scene battling the wildfire. 4 firefighters injured but not in critical condition.

Mandatory evacuations in Santiago Canyon and Hangman Tree Road. Voluntary evacuations for foothill areas of Lake Forest, including Foothill Ranch and Portola Hills.
