WordPress Plugin Review: Akismet
What is Akismet? Simply anti-spam plugin for your WordPress. It is a plugin that checks your comments, trackbacks, and pingbacks against the Akismet web service to see if they look like spam or not. You don’t have to worry about spams on your comments anymore. Since I’ve installed Akismet, I’ve got 0(zero) spam on my personal blog and eBestAgent.com It’s free for personal use. Download Akismet and visit Akismet.com for details. You will need an API key to activate and use Akismet. You can get a free API key by registering for a WordPress.com user account. The API key will be emailed to you after you register. Highly Recommended Plugin.
Another good practice to avoid spam is go to your administration panel. Options –> Discussion –> Comment Moderation –> Enter 2 (two) on -= Hold a comment in the queue if it contains
or more links. (A common characteristic of comment spam is a large number of hyperlinks.)
